Observational Analyzing the Effects of the Physical Object’s Movement on Users with Eye-Tracking

We have been studying interface with physical movement of hardware. It can control affordance to users according to the situation of interaction by physical action. We have developed this kind of devices. ”PocoPoco” is a music interface that can change physical form by our original solenoid actuators. It builds up with 16 units embedded several different types of input and output system and solenoid actuator. These units are arranged in matrix-like. This instrument can provide audio, visual and tactile information to users at the same time. We try verification about effect of changing of interface’s physical form on user by an observational analysis of user watching “PocoPoco”. We perform experiment to make a comparison between trace of eye direction when user saw automatic performance of PocoPoco and that without physical motion by use of eye mark recorder. In consequence of these experiments, we found the possibility that users tend to attract to physical action more than light.
