Group decision and negotiation support in multiple criteria decision making: an interactive approach

The author proposes an interactive method to solve a negotiation problem which can be formulated as a multiple criteria decision making type model. He proposes a 'decision room' setting aided by a trained facilitator to obtain and process relevant information. The success of the proposed method depends on obtaining trade-off information from the negotiating parties. The proposed approach is a people-centered approach in which the conflicting parties meet face-to-face, discuss various issues in the light of 'ideal' and 'compromised' solutions, and hopefully arrive at a consensus. The method is presented in detail and two example problems from the literature are solved for illustration. The pros and cons are reported.<<ETX>>
