Specific features of the dynamics of a vertical flexible rotor with an electromagnetic suspension

A computer model was used to determine the specific features of the nonlinear dynamics of a nonuniform flexible vertical rotor suspended on electromagnetic bearings. Excitation by harmonic forces acting on the rotor of subharmonic, ultraharmonic, and ultrasubharmonic vibrations of the rotor; hysteresis in the passage of critical frequencies during the rotor speedup or rundown; and the destabilizing effect of the internal dissipation of energy in the rotor material on the rotor vibrations are considered.
