Big Brother in the Information Age: Concerns about Government Information Gathering over Time

The revelations about the extent of the US National Security Agency's surveillance activities have led to a great deal of debate regarding government data gathering. The 1985, 1996, and 2006 iterations of the General Social Survey reveal public perceptions of whether such government power is a threat to privacy.
