Warning Labels and Accident Data

Accident data can be examined to assess the effectiveness of warning labels. In three separate analyses - involving vehicle handling, safety belt usage, and young children in bunk beds - we did not find any evidence that targeted accident or injury rates decreased with the introduction of new warning labels. Together with previous studies, these results show that it is difficult to demonstrate actual safety benefits for on-product warning labels.
