The demand for remodeling has become one of the main issues due to problems such as waste of resources in a process of rebuilding and increase of old building stocks. Since old buildings tend to be lack of energy efficiency, remodeling is essential to improve building energy performance. The building envelope is known to be responsible for considerable portion of heat loss in buildings. Therefore, we can expect an energy saving effect through the envelope-remodeling for improved energy performance. However, the existing remodeling has problems such as increase of construction time and cost due to the complicated process to develop the details. This study is a first step to develop envelope remodeling prototypes that consider the regulation and standards to solve the aforementioned problems. We classified the target parts of the existing building envelope and evaluated their applicability. Based on this evaluation, we prioritized the target parts of envelope remodeling prototypes.
