Development of Improved Information for Estimating Construction Time

The primary objective of this research study was to develop an improved production rate information system for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The improved production rate information is intended for determining construction contract time for highway construction projects carried out by TxDOT. A large number of work items that normally lie on the critical path were studied, and the production rates and "drivers" of the production rates were examined for statistically significant relationships. A user-friendly system, called the Highway Production Rate Information System (HyPRIS), was developed using Microsoft Excel and MS Visual Basic platforms.
