Situação Atual do Geoprocessamento e da Análise de Dados Espaciais em Saúde no Brasil

There is a growing demand for the incorporation of geoprocessing techniques in public health analysis in Brazil. This process will only be successful with access to data, software and training programs, as well as the development of spatial analysis tools. These development lines are inter-dependent and the possible technological solutions should consider the basic conditions: data availability and quality, cartographic data exchangeability, improvement of software that must be user-friendly and able to analyze specific sector problems. On the other hand, these conditions implicate the adoption of training strategies for the Health System hierarchical network. This work examines the current conditions of the sector development and points out challenges for the democratization of these technologies in Brazil.
