Aspectos do processo de produção de textos escritos

Texts are physical entities, the linguistic production of one or more individuals: discourses are "systematically-organized sets of statements which give expression to the meanings and values of institutions" (Kress 1989:7), e.g.: school, church, political parties, etc. It is within "the meanings and values of institutions" - and because of tensions created by different institutional values - that texts arise. As a consequence, texts are seen not only as the production of more individuals but also as the reflection and the actual products of discourses. In this paper, I discuss aspects of a model for the production of written texts.
Based on a psycho-sociolinguistic perspective and exempt from any prescriptive intentions, I concentrate on the formalization and description of the route hypothetically followed by writers when creating texts. The formalization and the description of the route include a set of recursive operations to count for the rewriting and polishing of written texts. The recursive operations include not only production-related processes but also text comprehension and summarization principles in an attempt to account for the writer as playing the dual role of producer and, at the same time, reader of his/her own text.
