Counterfeit benzodiazepines—A phantom menace

We have recently encountered a particularly concerning exemplars of counterfeit benzodiazepines, upon which we wish to report. The herein described Diazepam pills are very convincing counterfeits of a global pharmaceutical manufacturer, yet they contain a different Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) - etizolam. A bulk of over one million of these pills seems to be distributed over Europe.
