Patterns in Mathematics

This text deals with the value of mathematical patterns as visual aids which can enable pupils to understand the basic ideas/vocabulary of numbers and shapes and can stimulate curiosity and a desire to explore further by providing aesthetic pleasure in arithmetic and geometry. The first part of each chapter contains information and examples that can be used by teachers when presenting a topic in the classroom. This is followed by "problem" pages for use by pupils. The book can also be used in the Scottish curriculum and addresses the interest range S1-S3.
