Single-stage PFC converters for electrolytic capacitor-less LED lamps

This paper proposes two novel single-stage power factor correction (PFC) converters for the application of LED driving circuit. These circuits can be implemented free of electrolytic capacitors. Meanwhile, they maintain good power factors and tolerable current ripple rates. Low current ripple rate means low LED light flicker, which is beneficial to human beings' eyes. The proposed circuits are simulated by Powersim. Operation principles and key waveforms are provided in the paper. Simulation results show that the circuits perform well and really have the characteristics we expected.
