The off-site and on-site system tests of a DC transmission project are complex tasks,especially for the first ±800 kV DC transmission project in the world.The power transmission capacity of Yunnan-Guangdong UHVDC transmission project is 5000 MW with a rated DC voltage of ±800 kV.The two terminals of the UHVDC transmission project are configured as bipoles with two 12-pulse valve groups connected in series for each pole.This paper describes the system tests of Yunnan-Guangdong UHVDC project,including its off-site system tests which include the functional performance tests and the dynamic performance tests of control and protection system,as well as its on-site system tests with the test objectives,test scopes,test procedures and test results.The application of the digital real time simulation tools in the off-site system tests is discussed,and the relationship between the off-site and the on-site system tests of the project is analyzed.
