Towards the application of energy certification of buildings in Lebanon

Energy constitutes a true stake for lasting development in Lebanon. Among the fields of deployment, the residential sector offers important possibilities. This article proposes a method of 'energy certification' of existing habitats based on the diagnostic procedure and the economic potential of energy. The results of an investigation realised for Lebanon during winter 1999-2000 shows the evidence of Lebanese interest for such a method. So consideration of the future permits a better understanding of how to implement this certification and how it can be integrated into the frame of lasting development. We have developed the elements of a prospective study relative to the different aspects of this energy certification.
