The fungi of wheat straw compost: I. Ecological studies

Three methods, direct observation, plating out of washed particles and the dilution plate have been used to study the occurrence of fungi in experimental wheat straw composts. The distribution of the thermotolerant and thermophilic fungi is considered in detail and related in particular to the variations in temperature recorded in the composts.
