Efficient V2X Data Dissemination in Cluster-Based Vehicular Networks

Vehicular communications and networking technologies provide essential support for data ser vices across a Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) and play a key role in the Intelligent Transport System (ITS). In this paper, we introduce a cluster-based two-way data service model that pro motes efficient cooperation between Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V 2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communications, or namely V2X, to improve service performance for vehicles an d the network. Our results show that the cluster-based mo del can significantly outperform the conventional non-clust er schemes, in terms of service successful ratio, network throu ghput and energy efficiency.
