Getting from strategy to action: Processes for continuous change

Abstract This article presents an integrated approach to strategic change. The traditional 2 × 2 matrix is replaced with a ‘Change Wheel’ which corporate executives and managers can use to ‘navigate’ change. The author argues for an alignment of strategies with the change processes, and the company cultures required to sustain the strategic change. He identifies the change processes specific to each change strategy, and emphasizes the importance of ensuring that appropriate change processes are in place. The article is based on 3 years' research and provides practical guidelines to business executives who are involved in designing and implementing strategic change.
