Hard-less dead-time compensator for PWM voltage inverters

In this paper, a hard-less control method based on a low computation algorithm to minimise the effect of nonideal behaviour of inverters is presented. Some experimental results are shown to demonstrate the validity of the proposed method. The method is based on a space vector pulse-width modulation strategy, and consists in making equal the real and the calculated stator flux, neglecting the stator resistance. Unlike classical methods, that minimise the effect of the dead time, this approach does not require any extra hardware for implementation, because it can be accomplished without any extra sensors, and furthermore the compensation algorithm will not add any computation load to the inverter's controller. This algorithm simply minimises the difference between two simple adders containing the discrete times calculated and those actually sent to the inverter.
