Optimization of the function of a photovoltaic array using a feedback control system

Abstract To overcome the problem of mismatch between a photovoltaic array and a given load, maximum-power-point tracking should be used. Various techniques for achieving maximum power transfer between the photovoltaic source and the load are summarized and analysed. In this paper a new technique which utilizes a feedback control system to achieve maximum power transfer is introduced and described. The system has been designed, built, tested and applied to a 60 W photovoltaic array and the experimental results are in close agreement with the theoretical results.
