Benchmarking as a tool to facilitate the implementation of new technology

In general term, benchmarking enables learning, adapting, and implementing best practices of the leading companies. It is an attempt to encourage organizations to move away from the syndrome of "not invented here" towards learning from one another. Benchmarking is often used for improvement of existing processes, but rarely as a tool for planning the implementation of new technology.
