Estimation of Time Delay Using Conventional Beamforming-based Algorithm for UWB Systems

In this paper, Conventional Beamforming algorithm is applied to the estimation of the time delay in impulse radio UWB (Ultra-Wide-Band) systems. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated in indoor UWB channel model (CM1, CM2, CM3, and CM4) with dense multi-path. The simulation results show that the performance of the proposed algorithm is better than that of the correlation-based time delay estimation method. RMS error is used as a performance criterion.
