The invention relates to a micro display chip-based compact optical engine system, which comprises a light source, a relay imaging system, a micro display chip and a projection imaging objective lens, wherein the light source is an optical-shaping-free light source; an uniform-light tube is arranged in the exit direction of the light source; the incident end face of the uniform-light tube is larger or the same as the exit end face of the uniform-light tube; one side of the exit end face of the uniform-light tube is provided with the relay imaging system; the amplification factor of the relay imaging system is 3 to 10 folds; the micro display chip is arranged on an optical path behind the relay imaging system; and the light exit surface of the micro display chip corresponds to the projection objective lens. The micro display chip-based compact optical engine system has the characteristics of simple structure, compactness, smartness, convenient installation, simple manufacturing process and the like.
