Digital Human Modeling for Performance Evaluation During Marine Vehicle Operation

Human performance evaluation is important for measuring human capabilities during complex operations in order to redesign the operations to be more safe, efficient, and comfortable. But the body status of personnel is changing with time during marine vehicle operations, especially for long duration missions. So it is difficult to obtain enough information and knowledge about personnel inboard quantitatively for methods suitable for common grounded applications. An improved human performance evaluation method is developed with support of digital human modelling. Firstly, shortages of traditional human performance evaluation methods are discussed with challenges from varying human body status inboard with time. And then the human performance evaluation method based on digital human modeling is introduced with discussion about biomechanical components of the model. At last, a typical inboard application example is presented for demonstrating how to use the method.
