Design and Experimental Study on Downhole Permanent Magnet Generator

In current downhole applications,lithium ion battery( LIB) packs are the primary source for electrical power,but downfalls of LIB technology are cost,limitations on charge cycles,disposal issues and possible safety hazards. So this article mainly researehed on a downhole permanent magnet synchronous generator( PMSG) to produce power. On the basis of analyzing design characteristic of the outer rotor generation, the electromagnetic design of a reconstructive 600 W PMSG prototype with 2500 r / min was analyzed through matlab,and got the result. Using a function to analyse the relationship between the parameters and the unloading output voltage of the generator. Through the testing of the prototype,the results verify the feasibility in practice.
