General Transit Feed Specification data visualization

With the development of web technology and mobile technology, developers are trying to provide transit information on the Internet or smartphones. In this situation, open transit data with a unified format of schedules and geographic information, such as the General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS), is required. With latitude and longitude data of transit stations in GTFS, programmers could develop applications which allow users to “view” transit stations in Google Maps and calculate station distances and elevations. In this paper, the author will introduce GTFS data and discuss how to develop a website based on GTFS data to calculate station distances and elevations for future research.
