HISTOCHEMICAL AND PHYSIOLOGICAL STUDY OF CHROMAFFIN CELLS IN THE SKIN OF THE MEDAKA, ORYZIAS LATIPES.

A modified Hillarp‐Hökfelt's method was applied to detect the chromaffin cells in the skin of the orange‐red variety of the medaka, which has “colorless melanophores”. A positive reaction was obtained in dendritic melanophore‐like cells. This means that these cells contain at least dopa and/or dopa derivatives.
