HCI-based bluetooth master-slave monitoring system design

Bluetooth-based wireless applications support short range communications in wireless personal area network (WPAN), which make portable devices interconnecting flexibly. It is available to handle Bluetooth connection process with host control interface (HCI) protocol. This paper presents a Bluetooth system for industrial controlling and terminal monitoring based on HCI protocol. This system consists of one master and several slaves, in which a master-slave communication mode is adopted. Via the Bluetooth link, the master can periodically acquire the information that the slaves collect. At the same time, due to the periodical data exchange, the master can timely get to know whether its slave devices are out of range or are illegally invaded. A single-chip controller is used in this system to manipulate the Bluetooth module and determine which application is to be implemented. In this way, it is convenient to replant this system into other scenarios according to the requirement by changing the Micro Controller Unit actions.
