One of the problems when the automated driving cars travel on public roads is coordination with priority vehicles (ambulance, fire engine, tramcar, etc.). Coordinated driving with automated driving car is an important theme, especially as tramcars are attracting attention recently. However, literature shows insufficient analysis of the dangerous situation which can occur when a tramcar and an automobile coexists as operating vehicles. In this paper, the stopping behavior of the tramcar is investigated by Field Operational Test (FOT). In addition, we derive the required distance between vehicles for safe drive and check whether the distance can be realized by V2V communication regarding radio performance. Actual data is acquired using V2V wireless system for safe driving support which has already been put into practical use. We conclude with a confirmation that it is usable for V2V communication between tramcars and automated driving cars.
