Hybrid Unsupervised Modeling of Air Pollution Impact to Cardiovascular and Respiratory Diseases

Duringthelastfewdecades,climatechangehasincreasedairpollutantconcentrationswithadirect andseriouseffectonpopulationhealthinurbanareas.Thisresearchintroducesahybridcomputational intelligenceapproach,employingunsupervisedmachinelearning(UML),inanefforttomodelthe impactofextremeairpollutantsoncardiovascularandrespiratorydiseasesofcitizens.Thesystemis entitledAirPollutionClimateChangeCardiovascularandRespiratory(APCCCR)anditcombinesthe fuzzychisquaretest(FUCS)withtheUMLselforganizingmapsalgorithm.Amajorinnovationofthe systemisthedeterminationofthedirectimpactofairpollution(oroftheindirectimpactofclimate change)tothehealthofthepeople,inacomprehensivemannerwiththeuseoffuzzylinguistics.The systemhasbeenappliedandtestedthoroughlywithspatiotemporaldatafortheThessalonikiurban areafortheperiod2004-2013.
