An Air-Driven Fluidic Multiplexer Integrated with Microdispensers

In this work, we have successfully designed, fabricated and characterized an air driven, discrete volume multiplexer with integrated microdispenser. Using sPROMs (structurally programmable microfluidic systems) concepts we have developed discrete volume generating microdispensers that can dispense a volume of 280 nL. Using low-pressure air-driven actuation, the dispensed volume is then precisely multiplexed into four volumes of 70 nL each. The multiplexer with the integrated microdispenser delivers 70 nL at each of the four outputs with an accuracy of 99%.
