To Compare: A Gesture Toward Other

This paper is a section of the research dissertation “Comparative Architecture: An Architectural Discourse as Criticising/Building Twofold Strategies” which tries to explore the complex interaction relationship between the two entities of comparison and architecture. Through reading Derrida's, Trinh's and Laotzu's discourses, we seek the traces of comparative operation within their texts so as to suggest the comparison as an effective strategy against monocentric power and also for the revival of the poetic imagination.
