Hybrid Methanol-Production Process

The proposed process intends to transport the energy source of wall and neutral gas from abroad to Japan. This system makes better use of the heat and materials so the efficiency of the system is expected to reach 80% and this value is 10~15% higher than that of existing methanol production systems. An evaluation of this system, under the strict CO2 regulations imposed, was undertaken. The linear-programming model, MARKAL, was used for optimizing the energy usage of Japan. The methanol made by this system can be the fuel for automobiles instead of gasoline: this will also lead to a decrease in NOx emissions in urban areas.
