A USN middleware apparatus and a method for creating an information service based on heterogeneous sensor networks and a system for providing the information service using the same are provided to increase the utilization of sensor network-based information services by processing various sensing data, collected from heterogeneous sensor networks, into an information service and effectively providing it to a plurality of application programs. A system for providing an information service based on heterogeneous sensor networks comprises a sensing unit(11), a sensor network data transmission unit(31), a sensor network abstraction unit(41), a sensor network intellectualization part(42), and a service platform management unit(43). The sensing unit(11) senses surrounding information. The sensor network data transmission unit(31) collects the data sensed from the sensing unit(11) in real time and transmits the collected data to a USN middle device(40) as a message. The sensor network abstraction unit(41) extracts sensing data from the message delivered through the sensor network data transmission unit(31). The sensor network intellectualization part(42) analyzes the sensing data, extracts environmental information and the information of things, and creates event information and environmental situation information from the extracted information. The service platform management unit(43) provides the created event and environmental situation information to an application program.
