Block-mode digital filtering of pictures

Abstract A two-dimensional extension of the one-dimensional algorithm for sectioned filtering of data is presented. The algorithm is useful for digital filtering of large pictures by impulse response functions that are small compared to the picture. Estimates of the computing time using the two-dimensional algorithm are also given.
