CLINICAL STUDIES ON LEG INJURIES IN CAR-PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENTS

This is a retrospective study of adult pedestrians injured by cars and treated at an orthopaedic department between January 1975 and June 1976. Medical records and police reports were used to analyse the accidents and to correlate the injuries to the impact areas of the vehicles. Clinical follow-up and interviews were made 1-3 years after the accidents. Special interest was focussed on such long term effect of the injuries to the lower extremity as the walking impairment caused by the impact of the bumper and the car front.
