Errichtung von 10-bar-gashochdruck-leitungen aus PE 100 nach dem überarbeiteten DVGW-Arbeitsblatt G 472. Diskussion

The introduction of PE 100 in 1988 marked a clear step in the continous improvement of the pipe material polyethylene. Thanks to its high mechanical strength, its good Environment Stress Crack Resistance and its exceptional resistance to Rapid Crack Propagation, PE 100 expanded the scope of PE-pipes in several directions. The material allowed an increase of the operating pressure, the use of pipes with larger diameters or a reduction of the thickness of the pipe-wall.The revision of the appropriate standards and technical rules has nearly been completed -also the revision of DVGW-rule G 472.This includes an extension of the pressure range from so far 4 bar to 10 bar for high pressure gas pipelines. During the construction of the Mittelfrankische Erdgas GmbH (MEG) high pressure gas pipeline, which was originally designed for an operating pressure of 8 bar, the determinations of the revision of G472 were anticipated and secured by special engineering.
