Randomized controlled trial of appendicectomy versus antibiotic therapy for acute appendicitis

is low and all patients are treated with preoperative antibiotics1-3. The advantages are not as self-evident as in laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Larger randomized studies are needed to evaluate laparoscopy versus laparotomy in acute appendicitis.
