Apparatus and method for analysing histogram of image and luminance adjustment apparatus using the same

An apparatus and a method for analyzing a histogram of an image and a luminance correction apparatus are provided to be adapted to a mobile device which has relatively insufficient calculation performance. A histogram analyzing part(20) calculates a histogram by using all pixels of an input image, divides the input image into blocks of preliminarily set pixels, calculates a histogram by using a representative pixel of each of the blocks, checks whether properties of the calculated histograms satisfy preliminarily set sameness criteria, and calculates a histogram of the input image by using the representative pixel if the histograms satisfy the sameness criteria. A luminance correction function generating part(11) obtains cumulative distribution of the histogram of the input image and generates a mapping function for luminance correction based on the cumulative distribution. A mapping part(13) corrects a luminance value of the input image in accordance with the mapping function.
