Analysis of charging torque in a three-phase integrated charger of electrical vehicle

This paper analyzed the charging electromagnetic torque in a topology of integrated on-board charger of electrical vehicle using open ending three-phase motor. By connecting the three windings of open ending motor to the three phase grid, charging electromagnetic torque is generated. The undesired charging torque is analyzed and the expression is verified through joint simulation in Maxwell and Simplorer environment. Charging torque reduction methods are analyzed, which shows that, number of pole pairs, magnitude of the second order inductance and magnitude of permanent flux linkage should be designed small.
