Management globaler Produktionsnetzwerke

Bisher wurde noch wenig ausgesagt uber die Lokalisierung der produktiven Ressourcen eines Unternehmens. Eine heterogene Verteilung von Inputfaktoren, sinkende Transportkosten, neue Technologien sowie abnehmende Handelsbarrieren haben den Aufbau von Produktionsstandorten im Ausland schon vor langer Zeit in den Fokus geruckt. Schmenner stellte die Prognose auf, dass: „In the future, more European plants will be located (or kept in operation) with costs in mind, be they labor costs (or unionization), access to suppliers, or access to other company-owned plants that either feed the plant or are fed by it.“ Reich hielt zudem bereits in den 80er Jahren die steigende Mobilitat der wesentlichen Produktionsfaktoren, abgesehen vom Mensch, fest. In den letzten Jahrzehnten erlebten wir eine Fortsetzung dieser Entwicklung, mit bedeutenden Auswirkungen auf die „alten“ Produktionsstandorte und korrespondierenden Volkswirtschaften.
