Time constant of solar collectors

Abstract A method to calculate the time constant τ of solar collectors is described: an analytical expression of τ is proposed, based on experimental observations and on a thermal analysis in unsteady state. The influence of collector parameters on τ is also studied; it is then possible to compare easily the transient performances of different solar collectors.
