The behavior of precast tunnel segments, subjected to the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) thrust is analyzed in the paper, with particular reference to the case of the Rome Metro C line. Firstly a proper finite element (FE) code is applied with the aim of evaluating the load related to the first crack formation, and the evolution of the crack opening. The obtained results are validated through full-scale tests, developed in the Material and Structure Laboratory of the Rome University "Tor Vergata", on actual segments. A suitable system and set-up has been realized in order to re-create the in appropriate way the in-situ load conditions.
