Samples of glass found at 11 sites (primarily urban) across France were analyzed in an attempt to establish patterns of glass production and use from the 11th through 17th centuries. The 486 fragments were classified as soda or potash-lime glasses. The results indicated a soda tradition in southern France, a non-soda tradition in eastern France, and the existence of similar glass compositions and types at various urban sites.
