Modelling of Greenhouse Temperatures Using Time-Series Analysis Techniques

Abstract An innovations approach in the modelling of the dynamics of the temperature in greenhouses is presented. Heating, ventilation and solar radiation are used as input variables. The parameters of the model are validated in terms of widely available heating-load coefficients, including the nonlinear characteristics of the heating system. Also, the working-point of the dynamic model is described using static or quasistationary relations. The proposed model is demonstrated to be accurate which - added to the level of detail - makes this way of modelling very suitable for design and analysis of greenhouse control systems. Eecause the dynamic model describes the relatively high frequency behaviour of the process and the quasi-stationary model the low frequency behaviour, time-series analysis techniques are essential in the modelling.
