Field Dependence-Independence as a Variable in Second Language Cloze Test

During the past decade scholars in the field of second language testing have directed an increasing amount of attention to the cloze test procedure as a measure of general second language proficiency. A verbal cloze test presents the reader with a prose passage which has had words deleted systematically from the text. The reader must then fill in the blanks with the appropriate words.
