Switching solutions for spatial and spectral multiplexed networks

Space division multiplexing offers a transmission capacity multiplier in fiber links, in advance of the looming ‘capacity crunch’ projected for SMF-based systems. We present efficient and cost effective switching solutions for WDM-SDM channel routing.
