Developing an axisymmetric parametric model for an electrostatic force balance

An axisymmetric parametric model, based on a two-dimensional finite element method (FEM), was developed in order to calculate both the electric field around a charged coaxial cylindrical capacitor and the force between its electrodes. It enables us to optimize the design and structure of an electrostatic force balance. This model will be used as a cross-check by comparing the force derived from its deadweight with the calculated one, especially in the micro-Newton to nano-Newton range.
