Ovahimba community in Namibia ventures into crowdsourcing design

Mobile crowdsourcing presents a new avenue for remote communities to participate in socio-economic activities. We are co-designing a mobile crowdsourcing platform to support rural indigenous communities in formulating their own tasks to be crowdsourced rather than completing tasks for others. We present one full simulated cycle of task formulation and evaluation by a pilot indigenous community in Northern Namibia. Observations and interactions led to a set of requirements and design implications to support the inclusion of the OvaHimba tribe communities into crowdsourcing activities.
