Chapter 20 – Synthesis

This chapter provides a discussion with some novel faculty development leaders at institutions of higher education and independent organizations to provide a picture of the evolution and future directions of faculty development. While the online mode of delivery of faculty development is increasing, face-to-face interactions remain important and valuable for those who participate, especially for members of underrepresented groups. In this context, the persistence of the FORWARD to Professorship model is reported through discussion with the trained workshop leaders. An overall view of the contributions of the program is given in terms of synthesized data.
