Despeckling of medical OCT image with wavelet based modified dual fold technique

Optical coherence tomography is newly developed highly progressing microscopic high resolution biomedical imaging technique. The only major issue is speckle noise one of the highly responsible factor for degradation of the OCT image quality. To despeckle this noise there have been many techniques till now in wavelet domain. We have proposed a wavelet based modified dual fold denoising technique which outperforms than traditional Visu Shrink technique. The dual fold technique is combination of two methods first block based thresholding and second is wavelet fusion of image. Fusion restores the edges which were degraded in first fold. Experimentation performed on original OCT images and results in terms of PSNR (peak signal to noise ration), SSIM (Structural similarity index measurement) and EBCM (Edge based contrast measurement) have been calculated and compared with traditional ones.
